Re-signed for an additional year
The deal was expected to happen at any moment and finally Manchester United have confirmed the re-signing of their hit man Zlatan Ibrahimovic for an additional year. Zlatan will wear the No.10 shirt which suits a player of his caliber vacated by Wayne Rooney.
Zlatan's season didn't end in the glorious way he'd expected it to end. Although he is a Europa league winner, he damaged his knee ligaments in the 2nd-leg quarter final fixture against Anderlecht.
He was expected to be out of action until Jan 2018. But the club has been astounded by the way he has recovered and is ready for the next challenge ahead. With Ibrahimovic, manager Jose Mourinho can form Lukaku & Ibrahimovic as his lethal strike partnership for the season.
In his debut campaign for United, Zlatan made 46 appearances in all competitions and scored a staggering 28 goals. In the Premier League, he managed 28 appearances and scored 17 goals. These numbers are fantastic for 34 year old.
He somehow finds a way to score an important goal in the match which brings motivation within the side. His role for the team may not be as hectic as last season but Mourinho knows him well and knows how to rotate Ibrahimovic & Lukaku for the No.9 position.
Mourinho would benefit using Zlatan as a No.10 this season especially due to the talent that he would bring in that role. He is hungry for goals and trophies and will want to put his injury woes behind him to concentrate on his current season. All the best to him.
