Matchday 3 - Monday
Manchester City (1-1) Everton
Scorers
Rooney 35'
Sterling 82'
Red Cards
Walker 44'
Schneiderlin 88'
Wayne Rooney's strike was the 200th of his legendary Premier League career as his team was denied a win via a late Raheem Sterling volley.
Rooney opened the scoring after converting Dominic Calvert-Lewin's cross to become only the 2nd player behind Alan Shearer to reach this milestone.
The game slowly turned sour after Kyle Walker was shown 2 yellow cards which seemed like a harsh call by the official.
10 men City were still looked threatening on the attack with Everton defending their lead. The pressure paid off when Mason Holgate misjudged a headed clearance falling straight into the path of Raheem Sterling who volleyed home past Jordan Pickford.
Everton were handed further bad news after Morgan Schneiderlin was sent off which looked like another harsh call.
10 v 10, neither of the teams could score a winner as the points were shared.
