Real Madrid outclassed Manchester United in their Super Cup tie with a brilliant 2-1 victory. It would be fair to say that Man Utd were second best in all aspects for the entire game and Real deserved the victory.

The fixture exactly proved that Manchester United are still behind in competition with Europe's elite clubs and will need improvement at a number of areas. They were presumed to begin with a 4-3-3 but shifted to a 3-5-2 which didn't work at all in their favor.

Key Points:

Casemiro was the best player in the first half, his first shot was a header which struck the crossbar. Minutes later, Dani Carvajal found him with a beautiful through ball with Casemiro had a hint of  offside but managed to get the ball past De Gea.

Man Utd defender Victor Lindelof was perhaps the worst defender on the pitch. He couldn't handle the Real Madrid attack which questions his capabilities for the upcoming season.

In the second half, Real Madrid play maker Isco was a handful on the night. He may have been fouled more than half a dozen times in the game. But, Real Madrid's classic play opened up the United defense and Isco calmly struck the ball to hand Real an even greater advantage.

United changed the shape of their attack by introducing Marouane Fellaini which started a long ball attack. This led to a horrible miss by Romelu Lukaku which should have handed United a goal back.

But as the game progressed, Man Utd managed to get a goal back where Lukaku had an easy tap in and didn't miss this time. This showed some signs of life but they couldn't get the second goal.

Real began the game without their star man Cristiano Ronaldo who was on the bench and only came on in the 83rd minute.

Real Madrid were runaway winners of the Super Cup and they have opened their trophy account for the season. Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric was the Man of the Match. Manchester United may have learnt a lot from the game and will improve for their upcoming season.
