Bayern win (5-4) on penalties

German champions Bayern Munich overcame their rivals Borussia Dortmund after coming back twice from behind to clinch the German Super Cup 2017. The game was decided via a penalty shootout which Bayern managed to win after Dortmund player Marc Bartra's decisive spot kick was saved.

Key events:

Dortmund took the lead early in the game after a horrible error by the Bayern defense and Cristian Pulisic managed to take advantage and score against Ulrelch.

The lead lasted for just 6 minutes after a classic attack and clever passing ability saw Joshua Kimmich create a tap in goal for Robert Lewandowski.

In the second half, clever work from the Dortmund attacker Dembele put in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang one V one with the keeper and he scored a beautiful clever chip over the keeper to hand the lead back to Dortmund.

As Dortmund were closing in on the win and their first trophy of the season, Bayern weren't giving up just yet, Joshua Kimmich's shot struck Dortmund full back Lukasz Piszczek and Bayern were level with the game now heading into penalties.

The shootout was going well in Dortmund's favor with Bayern missing one of their spot kicks until the moment when Sebastian Rode missed his spot kick with the game level once again and Marc Bartra's decisive spot kick was saved.

It's a fantastic win for Bayern to kick start their campaign. Borussia Dortmund may have learnt a lot since their loss and would want to improve in their upcoming league and European campaigns.
