Previewing the UEFA Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Manchester United!

Cristiano Ronaldo makes his long awaited return against his former club!

UEFA Super Cup 2017 Preview!

Fixture: Real Madrid Vs Manchester United
Date: 9/8/17
Day: Wednesday
Time: 12:15 a.m.

Venue: Philip II Arena, Skopje

One of the biggest European fixtures is about to kick-off and the winners will have the honor to lift the first major European trophy this season; the UEFA Super Cup.

Champions League winners Real Madrid will take on Europa League winners Manchester United, an old fashioned English-Spanish duel which proves to be a cracker of a game.

At the European stages, there’s a lot of history between the two teams and both would want to prove that they are better than the other. This also marks the return of former Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo facing his former club, the club he calls his “second home” in England.

Head to Head Statistics:

Played: 10

Real Madrid Wins: 4
Man Utd Wins: 2

Draws: 4

Real Losses: 2
Man Utd Losses: 4

Real have the edge winning 4 games, with their last meeting ending in a win at Old Trafford. The winner was scored by former Red Cristiano Ronaldo.

Man Utd last win against Real in Europe came way back in 2003 and the following 2 fixtures ended in a draw and a loss. However, in their 2017 pre-season, United beat Madrid in a friendly at a horrible penalty shootout by both sides.

Real Madrid:

Real Madrid made history last season by winning consecutive Champions League titles in a rather one sided final where Real outclassed Juventus in all aspects. Manager Zidane has done a fantastic job guiding them to glory. They have a stunning European record and would want to continue it against the Red Devils.

All eyes would be on Madrid hitman Cristiano Ronaldo after he was declared fit for the game and is expected to start. He will be facing his former club and was the last player to score the winner when both clubs met way back in 2013.

Man Utd:

The Red Devils look a rejuvenated side in comparison to the start of last season. They are ready for whatever challenge waits ahead.

Jose Mourinho; the current Man Utd manager would want to get one better over his former side and win the club’s first trophy of the season.

Predicted Formations:

Real will begin with their strongest starting XI with their club having lack offensive options after the transfers of Morata and James. They should just play Cristiano through the middle and Bale as a No.10 to benefit their attack.

Likewise, Man Utd will also put out their strongest starting XI with their new signings. United can put pressure in the game but may face problems if they play a 3-4-3 formation, the same way Juventus ended up last season.

Prediction:

It will be very difficult to predict such a colossal encounter but Real may end up winning the game 2-0 and win the Super Cup. Ronaldo is odds on favorite to score against his former side.

All the best to both teams!
