Signed on a free transfer after end of contract

On August 7th 2017, AS Monaco announced the signing of winger Rachid Ghezzal after his contract expired with Lyon. The Ligue 1 Champions newest summer arrival comes as a replacement for Bernardo Silva after his big money move to Manchester City.

Ghezzal is Monaco's 8th newest recruit this summer and surprisingly the first outfield player to sign who is above the age of 23.

He has had a decent career with Lyon making a total of 119 appearances, scoring 14 goals and assisting 20 times. Last season in Ligue 1, he made 26 appearances, scoring just 2 goals and 4 assists.

With Monaco, he will add experience to a young side and help them mount a title challenge this season. His first contributions have come by assisting their only goal in the weekend's fixture against FC Metz.

His arrival for first choice isn't enough; Monaco still need experienced winger as Ghezzal isn't ready to replace a player of Bernardo Silva's caliber. Nonetheless, he is a good addition to the side and all the best to him with his new club.
