The season's first clash of the titans in the Serie A ended in Inter Milan's favor after a dominant second half display against AS Roma.

This fixture also marked the return of former Roma manager Luciano Spalletti who left the club after his contract expired this summer; subsequently signing with Inter.

The first goal of the game was scored by the home side after Edin Dzeko chested Radja Niangollan's cross down to volley past the Inter keeper Samir Handanovic.

Roma dominated the attack after Naingollan & Diego Perotti both hit the post.

But, in the final half hour, Inter front man Mauro Icardi scored a brace after converting Antonio Candreva & Ivan Perisic's passes.

New Inter summer signing Matias Vecino added a late third goal to ensure that Inter walked away with their points and 2 wins out of 2. They next play at home against SPAL after the international break.

Roma may have been unfortunate in the fixture after hitting the woodwork multiple times but were disappointed on the loss. They need to see where they lack strength and invest before the window closes. Their next fixture is away at Sampdoria.
