Gameweek 3

Matchday 1 - Saturday

Manchester United (2-0) Leicester City
Scorer(s)
Rashford 70'
Fellaini 82'

Manchester United maintained their 100% League record after winning against former PL Champions Leicester City. They have now scored 10 goals and conceded none, keeping them top of the table.

Before the goal scoring began, United were handed a penalty after a Danny Simpson handball but Romelu Lukaku's penalty was brilliantly denied by Kasper Schmeichel.

Both the goal scorers on the night were substitutes, first opened by Marcus Rashford who calmly tucked in a Henrikh Mkhitaryan corner. This was Mkhitaryan's 5th assist in the first 3 games.

Marouane Fellaini added a second after United launched a counter attack and Jesse Lingard's shot on goal ricochet of Fellaini. 5 of United's 10 goals have come from substitutes so far.

Leicester did perform well but will also be happy for having finished two tough away games against Arsenal and Man United so early on in the season.

AFC Bournemouth (0-2) Manchester City

Scorer(s)
Daniels 13'
Gabriel Jesus 21'
Sterling 90+7'

Red Card(s)
Sterling 90+9'

The most dramatic game of the weekend was played at the Vitality Stadium where a late Man City rally won them the game & spectators witnessed a goal of the season contender.

That man was Charlie Daniels who struck a fierce half-volley from the left side corner of the box to give a rejuvenated Bournemouth the lead.

Their lead lasted for just 8 minutes after City midfielder David Silva slid in a brilliant through ball for Gabriel Jesus who opened his account for the season.

The game went back and fourth right until the final 90+7th minute of added time when Raheem Sterling managed to bobble the ball past Asmir Begovic to pick up their 2nd win of the season.

Sterling later received a harsh second yellow card after he went to celebrate with the Away fans which slowly began to break out of control.

Bournemouth have lost all their 3 games in the league after slipping into the relegation zone. The international break may haven't arrived at a greater time, they need to pick themselves up and concentrate on the next task ahead.

Newcastle United (3-0) West Ham United

Score(s)
Joselu 36'
Clarke 72'
Mitrovic 86'

Newcastle finally marked their return to the PL after they won their first points on the table with a 3-0 victory against West Ham.

Newcastle debutante Joselu managed to break the deadlock after managed to bundle in a Christian Atsu cross.

One of their key performers on the night, Ciaran Clarke doubled Newcastle's advantage to powerfully head home Matt Ritchie's cross.

Substitute attacker Aleksandar Mitrovic completed the goal rush and West Ham's misery on the night.

It's all smiles for Newcastle who need to continue pushing ahead come their next fixture. West Ham are in danger, 20th in the table, 10 goals conceded is not the start they would have expected and need to do soon do something about it.

Crystal Palace (0-2) Swansea City

Scorer(s)
Abraham 44'
Jordan Ayew 48'

Swansea City may have got the best Away result of the day after they cruised past Crystal Palace to get their first win of the season.

Tammy Abraham scored his first PL goal after breaking the deadlock before half-time after getting on the end of Leroy Fer's cross to score a low volley.

Just into the second half, a Palace mistake lead to a Swansea attack after Kyle Naughton played a through ball which was tucked in by Jordan Ayew.

This result brings Swansea to 4 points in 3 games which is decent at this moment. For Palace, it's problems from all end. They sit in 19th, no goals scored and 6 conceded.

Huddersfield Town (0-0) Southampton

A scoreless draw keeps Huddersfield & Southampton unbeaten in the PL. At the end, it was the 2 keepers of both sides who were the standout performers on the night.

Huddersfield couldn't have dreamed of having such a start to their campaign, 7 pts out of 9 and sit 2nd in the table. Southampton have 5 pts and sit in 6th.

Watford (0-0) Brighton

Red Card(s)
Britos 24'

Watford are another surprising team to remain unbeaten so far in the season after their 10 men managed to see out a goal less draw against Brighton.

The Hornets played most of their game with 10 men after Miguel Britos was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Anthony Knockeart.

Despite the man advantage, Brighton's attack didn't look Premier League material as they couldn't find that crucial goal, it may have looked like 2 points lost rather than 1 point gained. The draw for Watford seemed like a win.
