Report:
A big name player departs and a big name player arrives!
It has been quite a
couple of days for Manchester United and Everton. Wayne Rooney to Everton was
officially announced yesterday and Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United has been
made official today!
Premier
League fans are familiar with Lukaku, a lethal striker in front of goal with
power, skill and an aggressive display to his performance. He is the right
player to join the club at this moment especially after the departure of their
legendary captain.
Lukaku’s
Premier League career:
Chelsea:
- First spotted by Chelsea in 2011
- The move didn’t go well in his favor
- Managed just 10 first team appearances in the PL with no goals
- Featured mainly for Chelsea’s reserve team
- He had two loan spells in between; with West Brom and Everton
- Jose Mourinho finally sold him off in 2014
West Brom:
- Burst onto the Premier League scene with West Brom
- Made 35 first team appearances
- Scored a staggering 17 goals
- Registered 7 assists
- West Brom’s main man in attack for the 2012/13 campaign
- Helped them achieve an 8th place finish
- Scored on his West Brom debut against Liverpool
- Scored a hat-trick against Man United on the final day
With
Lukaku returning back to Chelsea, Jose still wanted an experience striker, and
Lukaku still didn’t convince him enough. Hence, he sanctioned a loan move to
Everton.
- Everton’s star man in attack for 4 seasons
- His debut season began on loan
- scored 15 goals in the Premier League in his debut season
- Everton permanently signed him for a record £32 Million
- Made a total of 166 appearances in 4 seasons at Everton in the the PL.
- Scored an amazing 87 goals
- Assisted 29 times
- Decided to leave Everton for Champions League football
So,
what now? Jose Mourinho has signed him for Manchester United stating that the
player has matured since his Chelsea days and will be lethal for his new club.
Lukaku – The Beast:
- Lukaku may be the Premier League’s most prolific and feared striker this season ✅
- His offensive power is dominant in front of goal ✅
- Most notable attribute is his hold up play ✅
- Has exquisite ball control ✅
- He turns defenders inside out within a second ✅
- Adds pace to his play to further confuses the opposition ✅
- His finishing ability will help United to edge important games by the odd goal ✅
- Lukaku can score against bogey teams especially with teams Manchester United have failed to win in the past ✅
- Now, he is the complete forward ✅
Lukaku
is a left footed centre forward, something the club hasn’t had since the
departure of the legendary Robin Van Persie. This will give United’s new look
attack, a new dimension and the perfect combination of power, pace and accurate
finishing ability.
Pogba
- Lukaku partnership:
There’s
no doubt that Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku are best mates off the pitch. Both
go out on holidays and have a great time off the pitch. Now they can be great
mates on the pitch as well. When Lukaku’s signing was confirmed, Pogba was the
first player to celebrate it on social media. Now, as teammates both will be
equally deadly in attack. It will be the same relationship Pogba had with
Zlatan last season. It so happens that Paul loves playing in the No.10 role and
has Lukaku upfront as the No.9. What a combination that would be!
Paul’s
vision to find Lukaku with long passes and perfect through balls putting him through
on goal will be welcomed. Lukaku will return the favor by holding the ball to play
the waited pass putting Pogba on goal. Both will help each other in attack,
Romelu might end up as top scorer and Paul may have the most assists this
season!
Jose
Mourinho – Romelu Lukaku relationship:
During
their Chelsea days, then Chelsea manager Mourinho had said that Lukaku is still
a young player who hasn’t fully developed to his potential and lacks experience.
That’s the reason he was sent out on loan at Everton. Mourinho eventually sold him
as he wanted a senior experienced player. This time around, Lukaku has
transformed into the player of Mourinho’s liking and that prompted him to make
the big money signing. Gradually over the years, their professional
relationship will also improve.
Improvement:
Lukaku
is a selfish player in front of goal. At times, when he’s one V one with the
goalkeeper, he only sees the goal and not the player who is in a better
position that him. Going for glory is becoming a habit for him and he doesn’t
finish some of the chances which are frustrating. That may change with Mourinho’s
influence and Pogba support in attack. He needs to improve his ability to score goals against big teams and United;s main PL rivals this season. Also he won’t contribute much in defense
but that wouldn’t be a big problem if he contributes more in attack. As an
attacker, he only needs to change his solo playing attitude.
Lukaku
will prove worth every penny of his transfer fee as the years go by. In this
ever rising market, an initial £75 Million for a 24 year old is a fantastic deal.
He will be the main man upfront for 10 seasons at least, will win trophies with
the club and become a legend and a big hit among the United fans!
All the
best to him and future with his new club!!!
