Report:
Wow! Simply Wow!
No one
saw this one coming, but it’s official, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have
signed Real Madrid play-maker James Rodriguez on a 2 year loan deal.
James
was rumored to leave Madrid this month with Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG
all gunning for his signature. No official deal was made as clubs were put off
by Madrid's incredible €62 Million asking price.
No club
even thought of the loan deal option. Suddenly, Bayern come and under the noses
of their European rivals agree to sign Rodriguez within 24 hours. The 2 year
loan deal is a clever move pulled off. James will link up with Bayern Manager, Carlo Ancelotti who signed him at Real Madrid and his arrival can help the
club find success in the Champions League.
James’
career statistics:
FC Porto
James has played for 3 major European clubs, FC Porto, AS
Monaco and Real Madrid. He was first spotted as a young play-maker in Portugal
with Porto. Over here, his road to success began. He made a total of 105 first
team appearances. As a teenager, his phenomenal goal scoring record run saw him
score 31 goals and adding further 39 assists.
AS Monaco
After
staring for Porto came his big money move to French giants AS Monaco for €45 Million. He spent just
one single season with Monaco making 38 appearances scoring 10 goals and adding
14 assists. His impressive performances saw Monaco finish 2nd and
secure Champions League football.
His
performances in the 2014 FIFA World Cup were noticed by many. In 5 appearances, he scored 6 times and assisted twice. This caught the eye of
another major European club, enter Real Madrid!
Real Madrid
James
moved to Real Madrid for €75
Million which was regarded as Real’s best purchase since Cristiano Ronaldo in
2009. Since then, 3 seasons at Madrid saw James has make 111 appearances,
scoring 36 goals along with a stunning 41 assists. In 2017, a notable
contribution came in the El Clasico fixture where he scored Real’s second goal.
Although, limited game time prompted him to make the move across to Germany.
Internationally,
he has been Columbia’s captain and main man in attack winning 53 senior caps
and scoring 18 goals.

Bust
up with Zidane:
James and Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane had a mixed
relationship last season. Zidane preferred having Isco and Bale ahead of James
in most of the fixtures. James was merely a substitute, at times a super-sub
but made just 20 starts in Real’s 60 fixtures. This also reduced his goal tally
to just 11 with a further 13 assists. James began complaining for the lack of
game time he was getting and hence decided to leave the club. Their
professional relationship between the pair hasn’t since improved.
Bayern's new look attack:
Bayern Munich’s attack is filled with young talented
speedsters for the future. With Douglas Costa’s departure, Bayern’s attack hasn’t
faded away. They still have Coman, Robben, Ribery, new signing Gnabry and now
James, all in support of strikers Muller and Lewandowski. The club could still
add another winger but James’ arrival would show an increased threat in attack.
Champions
League:
James’
loan move to Bayern could turn out very well in his favor. With Bayern lacking
a No.10, his arrival couldn’t have come at a better time. Domestically, James
will feature in majority of Bayern’s fixtures. But if Madrid face Bayern in the
CL, then he will be forced to miss the fixture against his parent club.
Although,
Rodriguez at Bayern will take their attack and the club to the next great level
they wish to achieve. His signing could be the best summer deal this season.
All the best to him and future with his new club!!!
