Report
Juventus have
had their highs and lows in the past 3 months. They won their record 6th
consecutive Serie A title. Then, a loss in the Champions League final followed
with the departure of right back Dani Alves, one of their most important
defenders last season.
But the fans
now have something to celebrate! They have signed the former AC Milan right
back Mattia De Sciglio as a potential replacement for a fee of just €12
Million.
His former club
Milan have been Europe’s biggest spenders this window. They have already signed
Right back Andrea Conti as his replacement. De Siglio’s departure seemed inevitable
and he has now signed for a great club.
Juventus and AC
Milan look like the most likely winners for the Serie A this season. So, come
the end of the season, will De Sciglio regret leaving Milan or will he have his
hands on his first ever Serie A
Career
Statistics
De Sciglio has progressed
through the Milan youth ranks and made his first team debut in the 2011/12
season. He has made 110 appearances for Milan with 4 assists, but is yet to
score a first team goal. Last year, most of his appearances came as a left back
as he made 22 appearances in that role.
His
international career has progressed in a stunning way. At the age of 34, with
the level of competition the Italian National Side has, he has managed to win
31 caps. He was a trusted left wing back in Euro 2016 making 4 out of 5
appearances. This proves that managers trust him in big matches.
De Sciglio is
one of the few fullbacks in Europe who is equally good on the right as well as
the left side, last season proved it. He is a trusted player as a full back or
a wing back. Offensively on the Right; he is direct with pace and crossing
ability into the box. Defensively, he is fierce and isn’t shy of putting in a
tackle. On the left, although the pace doesn’t remain the same, he can still cut
onto his stronger right foot to either swing in the ball or strike on goal. He
is also a leader and has been given the captaincy for Milan on multiple occasions.
Formation Adaptability
De Sciglio
could be one of the fewer players who could easily fit and adapt to Juventus’
3-4-3 formation. He has featured as Italy’s wing back on multiple occasions
especially in Euro 2016. Last season, Juventus manager Max Allegri used this
very formation to win the League title and he will do it once again this season
and the Italian, De Sciglio has experience playing as a fullback, it’s the perfect
fit!
After
speculation of a linked move to Juventus for nearly two years, the move is
finally a done deal. They have finally recognized him and the abilities he possess
to lead the club in the future. He just needs to look over his fitness and
avoid picking up long term injuries. Nonetheless, Juventus have signed a
quality player.
Wishing him all
the best for his future with Juventus!!!
