Report
Arsenal’s newest hitman Alexandre Lacazette has signed for one reason only, to score goals for his new club as he looks to chase and win the golden boot.
Man City currently have 2 lethal No.9s upfront, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus. Both are equally talented forwards and will look to continue the fine form they showed last season.
But the main man Morata will look to better last season’s golden boot winner Harry Kane, one of the most lethal strikers in Europe. With so much firepower it will be a nail biting race for the golden boot this season.

Dynamic No.9
Player: Alvaro Morata
Age: 24 years
Position: Centre Forward
To: Chelsea FC
From: Real Madrid
Transfer Fee: £70 Million
It has been an interesting 10 days
in the life of Alvaro Morata and his move has finally been confirmed!
Premier League Champions Chelsea have signed him for a club record fee. The initial fee to be paid is just £58 Million rising to £70 Million which is relatively cheap as per Real's demands and expectations. Although, the deal would make him the most expensive Spanish signing of all time.
At this moment, the move comes as a
surprise. Chelsea had recently cooled their interest in the player, as he was
likely to move to Manchester United or AC Milan. Moves broke due to
overvaluation of the player as well as huge wage demands.
Chelsea looked at all their
potential targets and knows the quality Morata possess and hence decided to
swoop in for the player.
Career Statistics
Morata has played for 2 giant clubs
in his career; Real Madrid and Juventus.
Real Madrid
He had 2 stints with the now
Champions League winners Real Madrid. As a youngster Morata made his
debut in 2013 and played for them for 2 seasons. He made 50 appearances,
scoring 11 goals. With first team opportunities and starting roles limited, he
decided to sign for Italian Champions Juventus.
Juventus
He spent 2 seasons with Juventus
managing to reach the CL final in his first season. This time around, he made
more starts, making 93 appearances and scored an impressive 27 goals with 19
assists. Real were clever enough to include a buy back clause in his contract
and activated it at the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
Return to Real Madrid
His second stint lasted just last
season where he won the La Liga title and the Champions League. In 26 La Liga
games including 12 substitute appearances, a record of 15 goals scored is staggering.
He also faced his former club Juventus in the CL final. Come the end of the
season, he still couldn’t win the starting role for the club and finally choose
to leave.
Morata is also becoming an ever
present player for the international side winning 21 caps for Spain and has
scored 9 goals.
Agile Alvaro
In today’s modern game, it is
difficult to find a centre forward with the combination of pace and technique. Morata checks all the boxes;
- A unique player with all the abilities to succeed ✔
- With his pace, he can easily drive past defenders ✔
- He can use his technique and skill and beat the goalkeeper ✔
- His pace is the most important attribute ✔
- Most of his goals depend on his pace ✔
- He is a tall player, great for scoring set play goals ✔
- Equally good at scoring goals left and right ✔
- Scores headed goals and brings pace through the middle ✔
- Morata is on the verge of becoming one of Europe’s most feared hit man in the future ✔
Chelsea’s New No.9
Chelsea’s title success last season
came due to their fierce strike trio of Pedro, Hazard and Diego Costa. The
relationship between Costa and Conte has recently broken down and he is looking
to depart the club. Youth striker Dominic Solanke has also left after his
contract expired due to lack of first team opportunities.
2nd choice striker Michy
Batshuayi’s isn’t the club’s first choice but may still stay this season. Loic
Remy has retuned back, but whether or not he stays still remains unknown. Young
striker Tammy Abraham has signed a new contract and has left on loan. Morata’s
arrival may have come at the right time as he looks to cement his place as the
new No.9 this season. In the future, Morata and Abraham may form a lethal
partnership as the new Chelsea strike force.
Duel of the Strikers
The Premier League will see a host
of new faces along with a few familiar faces in the No.9 role this season.
One club that Morata would want to
prove a point against would be Manchester United, the club he could have signed
for. Relations broke down as both clubs failed to agree a transfer fee. Real valued
him at £80 Million and wanted David De Gea included in any deal. So, United
cooled their interest in him and signed Romelu Lukaku instead.

Chelsea have smartly snapped up one
for the present and the future. It seems fitting especially due to the striker
conundrum the club is currently facing. He has previously worked with Chelsea
manager Antonio Conte in their Juventus days. He will be familiar to the 3-4-3
formation that Conte uses and will be lethal for the Chelsea forward line this
season.
Wishing him all the best with
Chelsea
