Premier League Champions Chelsea struck a late deal for Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater on deadline day. Drinkwater decided to push a move to the Champions after handing in a transfer request and at £35 Million, Chelsea may have overpaid for him. He was Chelsea's first British signing this window.

Drinkwater, a former Man United academy graduate made 218  appearances for the Foxes, scoring 15 goals & notching up 23 assists. His impressive performances earned him an international call up with England in 2016.

Drinkwater showed his class in central midfield helping Leicester win the title in 2016. On his day, he would be the ideal box-to-box midfield player to have in the side. He once again hopes to form the same successful midfield partnership he had with N'golo Kante at Leicester.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has built a strong midfield with Kante & Bakayoko in holding role and Fabregas & Drinkwater as the box-to-box midfielders. Now, Chelsea may have the best title winning experienced midfield in the Premier League.

Drinkwater can pick out a brilliant long range pass out to the wide players and at this point in his career, he will want to add to his trophy cabinet. A move to Chelsea may work largely in his favor and he will be a valuable addition to their squad. All the best to him.
