Tottenham have finally announced their first signing of the summer after spending big on now former Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez to strengthen their defense.

Dutch club Ajax haven't budged on the player's valuation after recognizing Tottenham's interest getting a brilliant fee for the 20 year old. He comes as a replacement for Kevin Wimmer who is almost certain to leave the club this month.

Davinson comes after a fine season with Ajax where he managed 32 League appearances, scoring 6 goals, very impressive for a defender. He has already played and scored in this season's Champions League campaign by featuring in the qualifiers for Ajax.

Last season in the Europa League, he was dominant but lost consistency in the final making too many errors in the final which costed Ajax the trophy after losing to now English rivals Manchester United.

With Sanchez' capture, Tottenham may now have the best selection of centre backs in the Premier League with Alderweireld & Vertonghen providing experience and Dier & Sanchez bringing youth. He will greatly help Tottenham's 3 man centre back formation this season especially as Dier would most likely drift out as a defensive midfielder.

Only time will tell when Sanchez will start settling into life in England. With a huge price tag, he needs to prove that he is worth every penny Tottenham paid for him. The club haven't unveiled him yet so he may have to sit out this weekends London derby against Chelsea.

With the age and experience that he has at the moment, he is on course towards becoming one of Europe's greatest ever centre backs. He will soon becoming a regular in the Spurs first team and the club will help him reach great heights in his career.
