Report

The biggest blockbuster deal of the summer has been confirmed. Very few thought it would happen but Neymar has left Barcelona to join French club Paris Saint Germain. The transfer fee is a whooping 222 Million after the player’s release clause was activated.

Why did Neymar decided to leave Barcelona? Why did he sign for PSG? Why such a huge transfer fee? There are a number of questions which need to be answered to make sense to this deal.

Neymar was on the verge of being the next greatest Barcelona player after Lionel Messi. The combination of MSN was the scariest attack in Europe. When Neymar was first signed from Santos, numerous allegations regarding his transfer fee came up, soon followed by tax allegations. Neymar was reportedly involved a training session bust-up this week which further prompted him to decide on the move.

PSG is easily the best club that Neymar would have signed for. Firstly, due to the amount of Brazilian players present. Secondly would be the fulfillment of Neymar’s wage requirements as well as PSG paying the player’s full release clause. The club also had a quality player missing in their lineup which has now been completed.

The transfer fee

222 Million makes Neymar the world’s most expensive transfer of all time way ahead of Paul Pogba. Breaking up this fee would mean that if Neymar plays for 10 seasons for PSG, it goes down to 22 Million per season which is decent excluding any wages. This deal proves that clubs will do whatever it takes to sign the player they have firmly decided upon. It also opens the door for other clubs to put heavy release clauses in players contracts.

His greatest achievements have perhaps come at the international stage for Brazil. He has won 77 international caps, Brazil’s captain has scored 52 goals and assisted 34 times.

The PSG attack

PSG have a new threatening attack this season; Lucas Moura from the right, Neymar from the left and Cavani through the middle. This attack may finally help PSG clinch their long awaited Champions League title. Neymar can either line up on the left winger or through the middle alongside Cavani.

With PSG, Neymar is destined for stardom. He may finally come out of the shadow of his former club and make a name for himself at his new club. The deal has favored both sides and it will be amazing to see both teams face off each other in the CL, if it happens. He is already a hated player among the Barcelona support and now has a lot to prove to his new fans.

Wishing him all the best with his future!!!
