German giants Borussia Dortmund announced a departure & an arrival on the same day. The blockbuster transfer of Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona was completed for a €105 Million.
After Dembele was sold, Dortmund signed Andriy Yarmolenko from Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv as his replacement. The €25 Million fee is a record transfer fee made by any Ukrainian side.
Yarmolenko has previously been linked with Merseyside club Liverpool & Everton reportedly interested. Borussia Dortmund were linked with the player in recent months and they have moved ahead of the pack to sign him.
Yarmolenko's transfer now ends a 9-year stay with Dynamo Kyiv where he made 339 appearances, scoring 137 goals and registered 89 assists which is very impressive. He is also a 3 time winner of the Ukrainian Premier League. Internationally, he has won 69 caps for Ukrainian, scoring 29 goals.
Yarmolenko is left footed suiting the playing style that Dembele brought to the side. Although, he isn't the quickest, he can pick out a beautiful long range shot with an added aerial threat. He can also play as a No.9 for the club whenever necessary.
It's a fantastic deal that Dortmund have pulled off especially replacing a player of Dembele's caliber. Yarmolenko will fit in fine with the Dortmund side and help their ambitions for the season. All the best to him.
