Report

West Ham United is announcing big name transfers as they look to compete with the big boys in the Premier League. Just a couple of days before confirming the arrival of Chicharito, they had finalized a club record deal worth £25 Million for winger Marko Arnautovic.

Arnautovic arrives after a fantastic 4 year spell with Stoke City, making him a popular player among Premier League fans. Though terms with his former club ended badly after he handed in a transfer request, it may be the right move for him taking this step ahead.

Career Statistics

Arnautovic has played in Germany, Holland and Italy, but his most defiant time has come in England with Stoke City. He made 145 appearances for the Potters, scoring 26 goals with 32 assists. For a player who isn’t blistering quick; they are fantastic numbers.

Marko’s offensive abilities

  • A very clever creative player in the Premier League
  • More than 6ft tall
  • Doesn't have blistering pace
  • Can pick out the perfect pass from the left wing
  • Puts in the perfect through ball
  • Poses an aerial threat on set play
  • Direct fee kicks and crosses inside the box are his greatest attribute
  • Also has a knack for scoring against big name teams in the Premier League
  • Stoke’s regular penalty taker last season
  • May once again be handed that role this season
Disciplinary & Defensive issues

During his Inter days, then manager Jose Mourinho had described him as a fantastic future player, but with a bad attitude on the pitch. Well, he wasn’t wrong because as he still lacks discipline. Last season, he got 9 yellow cards and a red in the PL.

Defensively, he doesn’t always track back to block opposition attacks which another problem that the manager would have to solve.

West Ham has many options to compete for a role on the wing and the as the No.10. The best combination could be Antonio, Lanzini and Arnautovic; with pace, athleticism and fierce eye for goal.

The deal worked well for both clubs; West Ham needed to sign a quality play maker and Stoke City has made a sizable profit from the £2 Million they spent to bring him in 2013. It will be exciting to see him playing for the Hammers in front of their vibrant support.

Wishing him all the best with his future!!!
