Stoke City have snapped up a highly experienced player to help sort out their central midfield problems. Darren Fletcher, a player who had a glittering career with Manchester United in the past is a true leader in central midfield. Due to his health concerns, he wasn't a regular first team player. But he was reliable and ever present whenever the team needed him.

His next move saw him have a decent two and a half seasons with another English club, West Brom. Here, he regained his ability of performing week in week out in the central midfield role and it didn't take time for him to be handed the captain's armband. The 2016/17 season was by far his most successful EPL campaign. He featured in all the 38 League games scoring 2 goals and assisting 3.

What's next for Fletcher?

Opting for Stoke would have been a bold move for him. As his contract had run down, he had a free choice to select his next career move. But resigning with West Brom which looked likely didn't happen. He signed with Stoke City, a club who finished three places below his now former employers.

At 33, he may have 2 more good seasons within him. He will bring stability to the Stoke midfield, something they have lacked for a few seasons. His passing range is unquestionable and will prove a threat at set pieces.
