Liverpool Vs Sevilla: Rematch of the 2015/16 Europa League final
RB Leipzig & AS Monaco will put their young sides to the test against one another
Last night's UEFA Champions League action saw some memorable goals scored as 7 teams registered their first wins on the night & just a single goalless draw on the night.
Some of the notable results included Barcelona's 3-0 win against Juventus inspired by Lionel Messi. Elsewhere, PSG trashed Celtic 1-5 with debut CL goals by Kylian Mbappe & Neymar and Chelsea's mammoth 6-0 victory against Qarabag. Manchester United & Bayern Munich both got a comfortable 3-0 win each.
Sporting Lisbon dominated Olypiakos in the first half winning the game 2-3 and CSKA Moskva inspired a comeback 1-2 win against SL Benfica. More of the same please tonight.
Fixture 9
Let's first get to the defending champions Real Madrid who are targeting a 3rd straight Champions League title after consecutive victories in the past 2 years. They have a squad which is fit and ready to go towards achieving this ambition.
Cristiano Ronaldo will make his long anticipated return after he was suspended for 5 La Liga games with one more to go as he received a red card in the La Liga Super Cup first leg fixture against Barcelona. Real have desperately missed their star player, recently in their 1-1 draw against Valencia.
This is APOEL's 4th Champions League group stage campaign. When the two teams last faced each other, Madrid claimed a 8-2 aggregate win in the 2011/12 Quarter finals.
Line-ups
Prediction: Real Madrid (5-0) APOEL
Ronaldo to score a hat-trick
Fixture 10
Possibly the biggest game on the night is at a grand venue "Wembley Stadium" which will see Tottenham Hotspur take on German giants Borussia Dortmund.
After Tottenham played all their Home games in the CL at Wembley last season, they will want to put in an impressive performance in front of their home fans. However, this season they haven't picked up wins at home and would want to change that this time. They will be without Dele Alli who will be suspended for this and the following 2 matches.
Borussia Dortmund come in confident with a pretty decent squad for their clash against Spurs. They have a past advantage of winning the pairs last meeting 5-1 on aggregate in the 2015-16 Europa League season. But this could just be Tottenham's night.
Line-ups
BVB: Bürki, Piszczek, Sokratis (C), Toprak, Toljan, Sahin, Dahoud, Kagawa, Aubameyang, Yarmolenko, Pulisic
Prediction: Tottenham (2-0) Borussia Dortmund
Harry Kane on the score sheet
Fixture 11
An exciting contest awaits in Holland as current Dutch Champions Feyenoord take on this season's title favorites Manchester City. Feyenoord have returned back to the CL group stages for the first time in 15 years and would want to make their return a worthwhile one.
Man City may have the best CL squad out of any teams this season especially with the options of versatility the players possess. This is their 6th straight group stage campaign and they are targeting the title after a disappointing exit last season.
Prediction: Feyenoord (1-3) Man City
Aguero on the score sheet
Fixture 12
It's a repeat of the 2015-16 Europa League final as Liverpool & Sevilla once again lock horns together this time in the Group Stages of the Champions League. This marks Liverpool's CL return; their 2nd in 8 seasons.
Liverpool have a fantastic home record with 2 wins out of 2 in the Premier League this season. Their scary 3 man attack of Salah, Mane & Firmino will pose a serious threat for the Liverpool attack. Former Sevilla player Alberto Moreno is set to play against his former club with Phillipe Coutinho also set to be involved after his move to Barcelona collapsed in the summer.
Sevilla previously beat Liverpool 3-1 in the 2016 Europa League final and may be on course to do the same tonight. They have a solid defensive unit but Liverpool have the home field advantage and can easily turn the game into their favor.
Prediction: Liverpool (3-1) Sevilla
Salah to score a brace
