The 2016/17 Europa League Champions Manchester United have officially announced their first major summer signing for the upcoming season. Almost a week ago, the transfer of Swedish center back Victor Lindelof has finally been completed for an estimated 30 Million Pounds

Man United have had a reported interest in Lindelof since January but no deal was confirmed at that time. But after he had established himself as first choice for club and country, United reignited their interest and finally struck a deal.

Now what will he bring to his new club?

2016/17 Career Statistics:

47 appearances for Benfica,
Scored one goal,
Won the Portuguese League Title,
Has experience playing for the Sweden National Team as a Right Fullback.

Versatility:

He can play in three different defensive positions;
First choice as the right footed center back,
Secondary position as a right full back,
And finally, an unknown talent in defensive midfield.

United are looking for a holding midfielder and Lindelof’s arrival may change their plan for pursuing one. He can even score a scorcher of a free kick centrally.

His best position:

Originally, Lindelof may begin at center back partnering with Eric Bailly. Bailly as the right center back and Lindelof as the left center back looks likely with the roles adaptable for both the players.

Unlikely as a right back ahead of Antonio Valenica but he will get game time in that position whenever necessary.

Unknown as a holding midfielder but there could be one possibility. Bailly and Rojo as the first choice defensive partnership which worked well last season and Lindelof may play as the holding midfielder.
