UEFA Champions League 2017/18: Group H

Group H so far....

Group H holds three of the biggest European teams with defending champions Real Madrid, English side Tottenham Hotspur, and German giants Borussia Dortmund with APOEL FC completing the Group.

Surprisingly, Tottenham is top of Group H on 10 points with an unbeaten record so far with Real Madrid occupying second place on 7 points.

Borussia Dortmund's horrendous UCL campaign has kept them in third place level on 2 points with APOEL who have surprised the Germans.

Tottenham Hotspur & Real Madrid

Tottenham's return to the UCL this season couldn't have gone better than it has as they top Group H above the defending champions on 10 points after getting four points against the La Liga side.

Real Madrid has had a terrible last couple of games as they failed to pick up a victory against Tottenham which sees them second in the Group on 7 points.

Matchday 3

Real Madrid failed to make home advantage count after they earned a comeback point against Tottenham to move level on seven points along with their opponents.

Tottenham's pressure paid off in the first half as they took a deserving lead in the game after Harry Kane's shot ricochet last off of Raphael Varane, scoring an own goal to hand Spurs the early advantage.

Just before the first half came to a close, Real was handed a penalty which was converted by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real created multiple chances in the second half, but Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris ensured that his side left with a point on the night after making a string of fine saves.

Matchday 4

Tottenham sealed a place into the final 16 as they pulled off a stunning 3-1 win, handing the defending champions Real Madrid their first loss in the Group stages this season.

On his return to UCL action, Dele Alli was Spurs' star performer and difference maker in the game as he registered a brace, scoring one goal in either half.

Christian Eriksen soon handed Spurs a 3-goal advantage in the game which was soon later cut down to a 2-goal lead after Cristiano Ronaldo pulled one back to register his 6th UCL goal this season which was a mere consolation.

Tottenham qualified into the Round of 16 but aren't still guaranteed top spot now sit on 10 points. Madrid is now three points behind Tottenham in second.

APOEL FC & Borussia Dortmund

APOEL began their UCL campaign this season with two successive defeats but their last two match weeks have been quite remarkable. They have frustrated their recent opponents, German giants Borussia Dortmund nonetheless after earning a point each in their two games.

This means that Dortmund is looking increasingly likely to miss out qualification to the final 16 which will be confirmed if either of the teams above them picks up a win, but will still have a fight on their hands to secure 3rd place with APOEL.

Matchday 3

APOEL stunned Borussia Dortmund as they held them to a 1-1 draw as both sides picked up their first point in the UCL this season.

The hosts took the lead after the hour mark as substitute Mickael Pote struck APOEL's first goal in the Group Stages this season.
But the lead just lasted for 5 minutes after Sokratis Papastathopoulos headed in the quick equalizer as Dortmund got the better chances in the game but failed to convert them.

Matchday 4

Dortmund was unable to make the home advantage count as APOEL once again held them to a stunning 1-1 draw to all but ensure their hopes of qualifying to the last 16.

With Dortmund adding the early pressure in the first-half, they reaped their rewards after Raphael Guerreiro scored the opener.
Mickael Pote scored his second goal against Dortmund in the Group stages to get the game back on level terms, as Dortmund are still seeking for their first UCL win this season.

Tottenham faces a showdown in Germany against Borussia Dortmund tonight as they look to finish top of Group H which will end Dortmund's hopes of qualifying.

Real Madrid travel to APOEL as a win could seal their qualification to the last 16.
